December athlete of the month: Monika Eggens

Monika started with competitive swimming and then made the switch to Water polo after her mom introduced both her sister and her to it. That was at age six and she has been playing ever since.
Monika represented Canada for the first time at the 2007 Junior World Championships and made her senior debut alongside her sister at the 2009 World League Super Final. Also in the summer of 2009, Monika competed at the FISU Games, a first for women's water polo.
Monika has just completed her second year of NCAA Water Polo playing for the Universtiy of Hawaii.  She dreams to one day play for Canada at the Olympics.
Her hobbies include all sports as she enjoys being active. For her education she has completed her second year at the University of Hawaii, and is hoping to graduate with a degree in Kinesiology and or Education.
